Needed to make a map for a sc2gg.com competition, so I churned out a generic ptarish (2)map.
It's pretty bad, but whatever. Better than (3)Moloch and (3)3 I guess ._.

I woukld like to give you a constructive comment, but as you said yourself this is pretty "ptarish" as you call it, Just a simple x/y symmetrical 2 player map, nothing really wrong about it but also not terribly exciting.
I strongly adwise against using symmetry tool too much, though, because it has some really uncomely byeffects. I will add GMCS to show what I mean...

oops you're right, I didn't look closely enough.
I don't think the islands would work as non island expos. I could potentially make them semi-island and put a blocked ramp at the end of the "tail", but I don't like how that would work, and I think even if it did work the expo would basically still be an island.
And, I really want that tail to be part of the island.

very intersting. I think its too tight to have that many doodads placed on the ruin terrain along the map.
